If u have time to enjoy around penang by bus, try public bus :) Very cheap and cooling :) airporttaxi is kind of leap off. You can use Uber too at reasonable fare :)
G-tip: Must eat Nasi Kandar when in Penang! Make sure your rice is flooded in a mixture of curries with the password ‘kuah campur’ (mix curries). It is sacrilege otherwise. Read more
If you don't want to walk far to the check-in counters, you can ask your driver to drop in front of Old Town Coffee. There's a small entrance -fit enough for trolleys- which is waaaay closer.
Pleasant airport, cheapparking for day rates, free and comfywifi corner, look out for benches that has USB plugins to charge your fone. Variety of cafes to hang out while waiting for ur flight.
MAS crew is really friendly and helpful, whole check in process only consume less than 2 minutes. Start with warm greeting and end with sweet smile. Thumb up~!
Awesome airport. Free wifi anf charging stations. Decent choice of fnb outlets. If you haven't got your Nasi kandar fix while in town you can get it and the lg floor. I think it's line clear
Clean washrooms, free internet for 1 hr, plenty of seats and power points (includ.usb ports) and Starbucks inside the departure hall. Street food is a must try if you are in Penang.
The airport has gone under a major make over. there is a special departure gate for ATR planes such as Malindo & Firefly. i prefer this newly upgraded airport. good work!
If you want to buy tambun biscuits, purchase it in the domestic terminal as it is cheaper compared to the shop at the departure hall. There are also free coffee and free samples there.
I was here about 5years ago. But today i'm here. I'm shocked with the improvement of the airport. Free strong connected wifi, clean washrooms, nice environment. Good work malaysian airport management!
We arrived in Penang, almost midnight and it was raining. It was so COLD! Maybe the AC was on blast or something, all the other passengers were also commenting on it so bring a jacket or sweater!
For first-timers, more cafes are located on the departure hall, which is one level above the arrival hall. Good facilities, but can improve more especially on the shops.
Uber/Grab trip to old town will be around $4-$5, close to our half an hour. You can go by bus, that will be close to 1,5h. The bus driver has no change.
One of the best airport in Malaysia after the major renovation. Now with a few good cafes and shops to kill time before boarding your flights. Wifi is great at the wifilounge at the departure hall.
small immigration area. unable to accommodate all the arrivals and process efficiently. arrived to a gate with a spoilt aerobridge. next to us was a gate with a perfectly working bridge
Taxi: Turn right 4 taxi svc aft exiting arrival hall. Decent supply of cars during daytime. Price range fr MYR 18-70 (30%-50% surcharge fr midnight to 6am). 2%-5% fee if u wish to pay by credit card
There are only dunkin donuts, starbucks and oriental cafe within the departure/arrival hall. You might want to eat first before going in as there are more choices MCD, secret recipe, KFC etc..
Check in/baggage drop counter and boarding gate seems so faraway when you are super late! Have to run for your life.. Please be early at all times to avoid Qs~
May not look very sophisticated from outside but inside the airport you’ll find some shops, restaurants, Grab and taxi counters, etc. Taking grab to George Town is the cheapest option.
Wifi is very strong at the departure gate yay! Oh and the ladies at the gates are much better than the common area. Just that I think they should've more seats at the departure gates!
Most illogical interior design. Knowing that most of the time we can track down a toilet in Malaysia just by its stench, placing it INFRONT of arrival gate is just dumb and torturous. #penangairport
You will have free wifi inside this airport which last only 1 hour. But don't worry, you just need to log in once again to resume after you lose your connection!
Basic facilities are all good, WiFi, food variety, charging station, friendly staffs. Drawback is only people n their vehicle. Heavy traffic mainly due ppl negligence
Do not bring durian into the air craft... a passenger brought it to the cabin being told to bring it to the airline office for any of their local friends to pick up
Try to check in flights ahead and print your own boarding pass, or save them to your phone. Or come early, like 2 hours before flight. Because the queues are long
Taxi fare from airport to Batu Ferringhi is RM74-100. Bus fare is only RM4 from Airport to Batu Ferringhi. For flexibility, try rent a car in airport (the cheapest: RM165 for 1 day).
Way better than our aiport but I wish they can move the checkin/baggage drop off somewhere near the entrance. Also, the McDonalds store is taking too much space!
Not bad. They have machine ticket counters for Faster check in for Malaysia airlines and Air Asia. Paid Massage chairs and a massive McDonalds. I just wish the washrooms are cleaner.
there is no dining at domestic departure hall ( only premier lounge ) , so please fill your tummy tank before security check-in . if you need chepeast mineral/drinking water , please go to MyLife shop
Free WiFi! Starbucks😍😍 you can simply burn your time here if you feel like getting out of home earlier! **Great tips for those Johore students studying in Kedah Matrics**
[1] Super cold place. I always overnight at the airport to standby for next day early morning flight. McDonalds used to close early and shoo people like me.
MAS app could not be used to check in. Thought I would miss my flight as Penang road is always congested in the morning especially during weekdays. Thanks to KIOSK!
U may know u are late when u otw to airport so dont try to please the counter check in staff to accept you. Because u are trouble them to redo all the document that has been done.
The airport offers extensive connectivity with major cities in South East Asia. Passengers arriving or departing from the north will enjoy a fabulous view of Georgetown, Butterworth and the Penang Bridge.
